Rick Smith Returns to Victory Lane!
BETHEL, NY (8/10/2013)- In an action-packed night that included
13 feature events, a large crowd at Bethel Motor Speedway was
treated to a night that included a lot to feel good about. The
night began with nine-year-old Fantasy Holland – a White Lake
resident who attends the Town of Bethel Youth camp program –
singing the National Anthem. By the time the night ended, more
than 275 laps had been turned on the quarter-mile asphalt oval,
with one driver capturing a historic 100th win and four drivers
taking home their first checkered flags in a very busy Victory

Takes Opening Day Win at Bethel Motor Speedway!
BETHEL, NY(April 28, 2013) – As the gates
swung open on the 2013 season at Bethel Motor Speedway this
cars poured into the pit area, with both veteran and new
drivers all looking to take home the first checkered flags
of the year. At the end of the day, there were three
first-time winners, two defending champions got their season
started in Victory Lane, and five other drivers added wins
to their resumes.
Each and every time Pennsylvania native Rick
Smith comes to Bethel to compete in the Pro Stock class, he
is a contender to win. This past Saturday, he proved that to
still be true in the new season, as he collected his first
win of the year. The win was by no means an easy one, as he
had his hands full with young standout Jerry Tunney early in
the race. Tunney snatched the lead four laps into the race,
forcing Smith to turn up the heat in order to regain the top
spot. Tunney was involved in an incident just prior to the
halfway point that forced him to restart in the rear and
changed the face of the race, as Smith then had to take on
the challenges of Beryle Herman. Smith and Herman pulled
away from the field and Jim Helt – who had started fifth -
ran in a strong third. In spite of every effort, Herman was
unable to take the lead, and Herman had to be content with
second as Smith grabbed his first win of the year. Helt

(April 13, 2013)- Kyle Harvell set the quickest Late Model
time but Dave Brigati redrew the pole for the 30-lap Late
Model main. He led the first circuit over Harvell, Mitch
Hawk, Mark Tyson and Jim Lamoreaux.
Smith cracked the top five when he got by Lamoreaux on lap
six and then the yellow waved with 12 laps complete.
The drivers were able to choose their restart lane and
Tyson, who ran fourth at the time, moved to second by
choosing the outside lane.
Brigati continued to set the pace on the final restart and
Harvell and Hawk moved by Tyson to advance their positions.
Although Harvell gave the leader a small shot on the final
lap, Brigati kept it straight to claim his first victory in
the division since 2011. Harvell, Hawk, Lamoreaux and Tyson
completed the top five.
